Easy To Do Chest Stretches Videos

If you exercise your chest muscles (pectorals), don't forget to do some chest stretches afterwards. Not only after your workout of course. Whenever your chest muscles feel tight and stiff, you can try stretching them to loosen up.

Here are three simple ways to stretch your chest muscles. Just choose the one most convenient for you, or alternate them.

Stretching With Arms At The Side




Here's the text for these stretches for your chest.

Method

  1. Stand upright.
  2. Lift your arms at your sides at about shoulder level, palms facing forward.
  3. Without dropping your arms, push them back slightly.
  4. Stop when you can feel a mild tension in your chest.
  5. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds.

Stretching With Hands On Your Hips




Here's the text version of this exercise for stretching your chest.

Method

  1. Stand upright.
  2. Put your hands on your hips.
  3. Without moving your hand position, push your elbows back, closer to each other.
  4. Stop when you can feel a mild tension in your chest.
  5. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds.

Things To Watch Out For

  • Don't shrug your shoulders when you push your elbows back.
  • Don't lock your knees.

Doorway Stretch

You'll need to stand in a doorway for this stretch.

  1. Stand upright in an open doorway.
  2. Bend your elbows and rest your forearms vertically on the door frame.
  3. Without moving your forearm position, take a step forward.
  4. Lean forward a little until you can feel the stretch in your chest.
  5. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds.

Extra Tips

  • Try placing your forearms lower or higher to stretch different parts of your chest.
